Compare prices in Tenerife: official websites vs GetYourGuide, Tiqets and Headout

Each table puts the same product, or the closest equivalent, side by side on the platforms we work with and, where there is one, in the official shop; underneath you'll see who comes out cheapest and who lets you cancel.

How the platforms and official websites set their prices

The products of the island's two big sellers, the Loro Parque group and Volcano Teide (the cable car company), cost the same everywhere: Siam Park and Loro Parque, €44; the Twin Ticket, €78; the Teide excursion with cable car, €92. The crossed-out prices you'll sometimes see, such as the Twin Ticket "from €84 to €78" on Tiqets, are window dressing: €78 is the official price.

There are four cases where the official website wins:

• Aqualand and Jungle Park are €2 cheaper on their own website (from €35 and €34 online, with prices varying by date).
• The official Aqualand and Jungle Park combined ticket costs €51 online, against €69 on Headout and €73 on Tiqets for the two tickets combined.
• The submarine costs €57.95 on the operator's website when you buy online, against €61 on the platforms.
• The stand-alone Teide cable car ticket (€43 return) is only sold on volcanoteide.com.

And one the other way round: the Aqua Club Termal spa is cheaper on the platforms (€40) than on its own website (€47), but it isn't the same product (see below).

GetYourGuide, Tiqets, Viator and Klook acknowledge that the order of their results depends partly on what they earn on each product: sort by rating or by price before you choose. Canary Islands residents should buy on the official websites, which sell the resident fare (half price at Siam Park and Loro Parque) and check ID at the gate; as a visitor you won't be able to use it.

Cancellation: where the real difference lies

When the price is the same, decide on what happens if it rains or your plans change.

The parks' official websites aren't flexible either: Siam Park doesn't refund even if it closes because of bad weather, and Loro Parque doesn't give refunds, although its tickets never expire. Volcano Teide, on the other hand, lets you change or cancel the cable car for free until 18:00 the day before.

Water parks and zoos

Siam Park, one-day ticket

€44 everywhere: choose by the cancellation terms in the table above. Children aged 3 to 11, €32. More in Siam Park.

Loro Parque, one-day ticket

Also €44 everywhere. The official website makes sense if you don't know which day you'll go, because its ticket never expires. See Loro Parque.

Twin Ticket: Loro Parque and Siam Park

€78 on the official website, GetYourGuide and Tiqets (Headout doesn't sell it): €10 less per adult and €7 less per child than two separate tickets. GetYourGuide cancels free up to 24 hours before and Tiqets doesn't refund anything. The park gives you 15 days from your first visit and GetYourGuide says 14: plan on 14.

Siam Park All Inclusive

€165 in the official shop too. It pays off if you were going to buy the unlimited Fast Pass (€99): ticket, Fast Pass, towel and locker bought separately already come to more than that before lunch. No Fast Pass is valid on the Tower of Power or the Mai Thai River.

Loro Parque and Siam Park with transfer

€99 on both: the same as the Twin Ticket (€78) plus an official return bus (€21). Check the listing to see whether the transfer covers both parks or only one.

Aqualand Costa Adeje

From €35 on its website for a dated ticket, €2 less than on the platforms. If you need flexibility, Tiqets lets you change or cancel until 23:59 the day before; Headout allows neither. See Aqualand.

Jungle Park

Same pattern and same cancellation terms: from €34 on its website, €36 elsewhere. If you're going to both parks, the official €51 combined ticket is valid for 90 days and is by far the cheapest option. See Jungle Park.

Teide and the stars

Teide excursion with cable car

It's Volcano Teide's own product and costs €92 on its website and on every platform; Tiqets and Headout let you cancel free up to 24 hours before. If you have a car and just want to go up, the cable car ticket (€43 return) can only be bought on volcanoteide.com. It's all in Teide.

Teide Observatory visit

Volcano Teide sells these Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias visits for €21, the same as the platforms. Ages 8 to 16 go free, under-8s can't go, and you need your own car and ID.

Stargazing on Teide

Same price, but not the same length (one hour on Tiqets and Headout, two on GetYourGuide): check what each listing includes. For reference, Volcano Teide charges €35 for an hour of telescopes at the cable car base station if you drive up yourself. More in stargazing.

Boats and the sea

Submarine in the south of Tenerife

The platforms charge the operator's standard fare (€61); on its website, buying online, it costs €57.95 per adult and €35.15 per child aged 2 to 14, with free cancellation up to 24 hours before. Under-2s can't go aboard. See submarine.

Ragnarok, themed boat with whale watching

Same price on both. The boat is registered at Amarilla Marina (formerly Marina San Miguel), but it's sold as leaving from Los Cristianos: check the quay on your voucher. On the two-hour trip water is free and other drinks are extra.

Day trip to La Gomera

€110 on both; this kind of excursion usually includes the ferry, a coach on the island, a guide and lunch, but check the listing. The return ferry on your own starts from about €80, with no transport on La Gomera, so without a car the excursion pays off. See La Gomera.

Shows and dinners

History, The Evolution of Music (Pirámide de Arona)

Same price on both; GetYourGuide lets you cancel up to 24 hours before. Dinner and drinks aren't included and seats aren't numbered: eat beforehand (the Hard Rock Cafe is opposite) and arrive in good time.

Music Hall Tavern, dinner with drag show

On its own website it costs the same (€49 adult, €39 child aged 4 to 12), but it only refunds you if you cancel 14 days or more ahead: compare that with the window on the listing. Drinks extra and no transport. More in shows.

Olé Flamenco

Same price on both platforms: decide by each listing's cancellation policy.

Flamenco at Casa Ábaco (Puerto de la Cruz)

The same on both, with a drink included according to the listing.

Medieval dinner at Castillo San Miguel

Same price on both. The official website (now medievaladventure.com) advertises a 10% online discount; the castle is in Aldea Blanca, inland, so without a car take the option with coach transport.

Scandal Dinner Show

The same on both. Its own website also offers free cancellation up to 24 hours before, and Canary Islands residents get a 15% discount. Over-16s only, Fridays and Saturdays.

Hard Rock Cafe, set menu

Same price. The menu gets you priority seating and a single drink; the restaurant takes normal bookings on its website, so it's only worth it on nights with long queues.

Museums and gardens

Palmetum, Santa Cruz

€6, the same as at the ticket office. If you're also going to the Parque Marítimo, its official combined ticket with the Palmetum (€10.50) saves €3. See museums.

Drago Milenario, Icod de los Vinos

€5, the same as at the gate. You can see the tree for free from Plaza de Andrés de Lorenzo Cáceres, next to the church of San Marcos; the ticket gets you the garden and a close-up view.

Pyramids of Güímar

€12.50 on both platforms. Tiqets also sells full access for €18 and combinations with a 5% discount, such as Güímar plus the Drago.

Casa de los Balcones (La Orotava)

One of the few cases with a difference: GetYourGuide charges €1 less than Tiqets.

Wine museum with tasting

The same on both, but the listings don't make clear which museum it is: check before you book. If what you're after is the Casa del Vino in El Sauzal, entry there is free and the three-wine tasting costs €16 on the spot; it's closed on Mondays.

Spa, karting and the sightseeing bus

Aqua Club Termal (Costa Adeje)

The platforms charge €40 and the spa's website €47, but the website sells 3 hours in the spa circuit, while resold tickets are usually for 2 hours and without a towel. Check the length before you take the difference at face value.

Go-karts in the south

The two listings don't name the track clearly and may not be the same kart or the same session: check engine size and minutes before you compare. For reference, Karting Club Tenerife (Arona) charges €25.50 for 12 minutes in a 270 cc kart and €29.75 in the 400 cc one when you book on its website, and Karting Las Américas (Fañabé), €20 for 10 minutes in a 270 cc kart. Santa Cruz sightseeing bus

€20 everywhere, the same price as on the City Sightseeing website; children aged 7 to 16 pay €10. It's the island's only hop-on hop-off sightseeing bus.
