If you're booking a whale-watching boat, a kayak, a quad or a day on Teide, GetYourGuide has a huge catalogue and more reviews per product than any other website. At Siam Park and Loro Parque you save nothing compared with the online ticket office, but you don't pay more either, and you get free cancellation and the option to pay later. Its weak spot is customer service when something goes wrong.
One thing to be clear about before we go on: GetYourGuide is our main partner and we earn a commission when you book through our links. That's why this review also covers what doesn't flatter it.
Who's behind GetYourGuide
According to its corporate website, it was founded in Zurich in 2009 by four fellow students: Johannes Reck, Tao Tao, Martin Sieber and Tobias Rein. Today the site is run by GetYourGuide Deutschland GmbH, based in Berlin. It's a private, venture-capital-backed company and says it sells more than 150,000 experiences in 12,000 cities.
How it works: your contract is with the boat company
GetYourGuide doesn't run the trips itself: it acts as a sales agent, the contract is between you and the provider, and its commission is built into the price. At the bottom of every listing you'll find the provider's legal name (for the whale-watching sailing boat in Los Gigantes, Third Element S.L.). That's the company that will actually take you out.
Only people who have bought can leave a review, and those carry a verified-booking label. The order of the results, on the other hand, isn't neutral: GetYourGuide admits that its revenue, commissions included, plays a part, and that a provider can raise the commission it pays. Before you choose between almost 80 whale-watching boats, sort by rating or by price.
What it sells in Tenerife and what it costs
The catalogue runs to more than 500 activities, over 400 of them linked to Teide. The most reviews pile up on the whale-watching boats, Siam Park and Loro Parque tickets, kayaking with snorkelling, surfing, jet skis and quads. Its most-reviewed Tenerife product is the Travelin' Lady eco-yacht.

Two gaps: it doesn't sell airport transfers (its Tenerife transport category has just two products, neither from the airport), nor a standalone cable car ticket, only tours that include it.

Adult prices checked on 2 October 2026. They can change with the date; each platform confirms the final price.
At Siam Park it's €44 everywhere. The difference lies in the terms: GetYourGuide lets you cancel free of charge up to 24 h beforehand and pay later, Tiqets sells the same ticket with no refund, and Headout requires 48 h notice to cancel. The Twin Ticket also costs €78, as on the official website, although GetYourGuide states 14 days' validity and loroparque.com says 15.
Where you do pay more is Aqualand and Jungle Park: €37 and €36, against from €35 and €34 on their own websites. The crossed-out prices on boat trips (from €50 down to €28, for example) are the provider's own promotions, and the best-price guarantee only compares the same product from the same provider.
Cancellation, payment and the app
The general rule: cancel more than 24 h in advance and you get everything back; within those 24 h, or if you don't turn up, you get nothing. Some activities have their own terms, which take precedence, so read them on the listing.
With "reserve now and pay later", on selected products and only with a credit card, nothing is charged when you book: the payment is taken 72 h before the activity. It accepts cards, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Klarna, among others. Any extras paid on the day are listed in the practical information on the listing.
Customer service, languages and reviews
There's a help centre, chat, email and phone, with a reply promised within 24 h and 48 h at most, and in the app you can message the provider. It's the only one of the six platforms that works in all ten languages of this guide, Hungarian and Lithuanian included.
The ratings contradict each other. On Trustpilot it scores 3.9 from more than 56,000 reviews, the lowest of the six, with 19% one-star; on the UK App Store it's close to 4.9. Trustpilot mostly gathers complaints and the app stores happy customers, and both figures are a snapshot of today. People praise the guides and how easy it is to book; the complaints are about last-minute cancellations by the provider, partial refunds, unexpected costs and slow handling of disputes. It was also one of the companies fined by the Italian competition authority over the resale of Colosseum tickets.

Who it suits and who should book direct
It suits almost anyone booking boats, kayaking, quads or guided tours, and anyone who wants the big parks without being tied to a date.
Book direct if all you want is the Teide cable car: €43 return on volcanoteide.com. The same goes if you're visiting Aqualand or Jungle Park on a fixed date (aqualand.es and junglepark.es) or if you're a Canary Islands resident: those rates are only on the official websites and you have to prove residency at the entrance.
Alternatives to GetYourGuide
Civitatis lets you cancel Siam Park and Loro Parque up to 12 h beforehand and is strong in the north. Headout offers pay later on those tickets with 48 h' notice. Tiqets works well for museums; Viator for tours with pick-up. Klook has hardly any reviews in Tenerife. Everything side by side in compare prices.
Is booking on GetYourGuide more expensive than the official ticket office?
At Siam Park, Loro Parque, the Twin Ticket and the Volcano Teide tours the price is the same. At Aqualand and Jungle Park you pay €2 more than on their own websites.
When can I cancel free of charge on GetYourGuide?
Up to 24 h before the start, unless the listing says otherwise. Within those 24 h, or if you don't turn up, there's no refund.
Does GetYourGuide sell standalone tickets for the Teide cable car?
No. Only tours that include it, such as the Volcano Teide tour from €92. The standalone ticket, €43 return, is sold on volcanoteide.com.
Can I pay later on GetYourGuide?
On selected activities and only with a credit card: nothing is charged when you book and the payment is taken 72 h before the start. If it fails, you have 47 h to pay manually.
