The choice usually comes down to two outfits. Volcano Teide has the widest range, including the Teide Observatory and sunset at the top of the cable car, which only the company running the cable car can offer. Night Skies Tenerife is the independent alternative, with pick-ups in the south and similar prices. The platforms carry products from both, and from other agencies too: check who's organising.

Volcano Teide: who they are and what they sell
It's the brand of Teleférico del Pico de Teide, S.A., the company behind the cable car. On behalf of the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias (IAC), it runs the public visits to the Teide Observatory at Izaña (2,390 m); the platforms only resell them. It advertises Starlight-certified guides. Official page for Teide By Night.
| Product | Price | Duration | What's included |
|---|---|---|---|
| Teide Observatory, daytime visit | €21 (ages 8–16 free) | 1.5 h | solar telescopes and the inside of a night telescope; own car |
| Stargazing at the cable car base station | €35 (€77 with transfer) | 1 h | 9.25" Celestron and 30 cm Dobsonian telescopes |
| Sunset cable car | €72 | 2 h | ride up to 3,555 m, no guide or stars; 90 people at most |
| Teide By Night: dinner and stars | €89 | 9 h | coach, sunset, three-course dinner with a drink, telescopes |
| Astronomic Tour | €96 (€110 with dinner) | 8 h | observatory in the afternoon and telescopes at night; Wednesdays and Saturdays |
| Sunset & Stars | €159 | 8 h | sunset at the top of the cable car, picnic and telescopes |
Children under 8 can't go to the observatory or on most of these trips; Teide By Night has a child fare, so confirm the minimum age. That tour picks up daily in the south, and in the north only on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
You drive yourself to the observatory (there are 2 km inside the site), arriving 30 minutes early with photo ID. Tours run in English and Spanish daily, in German Monday to Friday and in French four days a week.
Night Skies Tenerife, the independent
Night Skies Tenerife picks up in the south and also advertises Starlight guides. Its home page shows no company name or founding year.
- Coach tour: €65, or €85 with dinner.
- In your own car: €55, or €72.50 with dinner.
- Stargazing only, 1.5 h: €47.50.
Free cancellation up to 24 hours beforehand. Its tour with dinner costs €4 less than Teide By Night; on the other hand, its stars-only session (€47.50) is dearer than Volcano Teide's at the cable car base station (€35). Ask about times, route and group size.

The short stargazing session costs €35 on GetYourGuide (rated 4.9, more than 500 reviews), Tiqets and Headout, the same as Volcano Teide's at the cable car base station. Check on the listing who's organising and where from: watching the stars at 2,356 m isn't the same as from a lower viewpoint.
Cancellations and bad weather
On most Volcano Teide trips you can cancel free of charge up to 24 hours beforehand. Sunset & Stars is the exception: free up to 48 hours, 50% after that and 100% in the last 24.
A word on the labels: Teide National Park is a Starlight Tourist Destination and the Tenerife summits (Cumbres de Tenerife) a Starlight Reserve; both have been renewed for four years. The sky is also protected by Law 31/1988 (Ley 31/1988) on the astronomical quality of the IAC observatories.
