The Ragnarok isn't competing with Travelin' Lady or Mar de Ons. It sells a show: a Viking theme, swords, costumes and photos on the throne, while it sails between Los Cristianos and La Caleta looking for pilot whales and dolphins. With children aged 4 to 11 it's a winner; for adults who only want to see whales and dolphins there are quieter options.

Who's behind it

The brand is Viking Tenerife Ragnarok, with a website at vikingtenerife.com, phone +34 654 63 89 22 and email info@vikingtenerife.com. The website doesn't give the name of the company that runs it.

It has been sailing in Tenerife since 2018. It presents itself as the only Viking-themed boat in the Canary Islands, with room for almost 100 people, and says it's adapted for any disability; ask about your own needs before booking. The "authentic Viking ship" line is resellers' marketing: it's a themed tourist boat.

It's licensed: the Ragnarok appears twice on the Canary Islands Government's official register of whale-watching boats. It isn't on Tenerife Tourism's voluntary Sustainability Charter.

Where it leaves from: what's clear and what isn't

The company advertises its trips as running "from Los Cristianos to La Caleta", and one reseller places boarding at the Excursions Area (Zone A) of Los Cristianos harbour, where Travelin' Lady and the Peter Pan also leave from. However, the official register gives its base as Amarilla Marina, formerly Marina San Miguel (in San Miguel de Abona, ten minutes from Tenerife South airport), not Los Cristianos.

There's no public confirmation that settles the question. The sensible thing to do: read the meeting point on your voucher and, if it isn't clear, message or call the company the day before. In Los Cristianos, follow the blue line painted on the ground to the Excursions Area; more on that harbour in whale watching from Los Cristianos.

Trips, prices and what you pay on board

There are two trips: 2 hours and 3 hours. The company only includes a swim on the 3-hour trip, although the 2-hour GetYourGuide listing advertises a "swim stop" in its title: if the swim matters to you, check before you pay. The sword show, the costumes and the photo on the throne are the house speciality.

  • Drinks: included on the 3-hour trip; on the 2-hour trip they cost €3 each. Bottled water is free on both.
  • Food: burgers and hot dogs on board, between €10 and €11.50.

Direct prices only appear inside its booking system. Resellers quote €28 per adult, €20 per child aged 4 to 11 and €5 per infant for the 2-hour trip, and €38, €25 and €5 for the 3-hour one; another advertises the 2-hour trip at €25. Treat these as a guide, not as the official rate.

Tiqets Los Cristianos: Viking Tenerife Ragnarok Cruise 4.5 (23) €28 See on Tiqets

Adult prices checked on 2 October 2026. They can change with the date; each platform confirms the final price.

On both platforms it costs €28, so decide on the terms. On GetYourGuide the general rule is free cancellation up to 24 hours beforehand and the listing has far more reviews; note that its title no longer says "Viking": it appears as a whale-watching trip with a swim stop. On Tiqets it does carry the Ragnarok name, but cancellation depends on each provider: read it before you pay. More in compare prices.

Cancellation, bad weather and sightings

If you book direct, ask for the cancellation terms in writing. If you buy on GetYourGuide, its general 24-hour rule applies; if the boat is called off because of the sea conditions, ask whether you'll be offered another date or a refund.

There's no sightings guarantee, as with every operator in Tenerife. The route passes through the area where pilot whales and bottlenose dolphins live all year round, but with almost 100 people and a show on board, watching the animals isn't the only main event.

What the ratings say

On GetYourGuide it's rated 4.7 out of 5 from about 3,700 reviews; on Tiqets 4.5 from barely twenty. That's a high, steady score for a themed boat. What you might not like is clear before you step aboard: on the short trip you pay for every drink, the atmosphere is all entertainment rather than quiet, and there's little information about the company.

The good

  • A whale-watching trip designed for children: swords, costumes and a throne.
  • Same price on GetYourGuide and Tiqets.
  • The 3 h trip includes drinks and a swim.
  • Advertised as adapted for people with disabilities.

The not so good

  • A boarding pier you need to confirm on your voucher.
  • On the 2 h trip you pay for every drink and the swim isn't guaranteed.
  • The website doesn't show the company name, and prices only appear when you book.
  • Not on the Sustainability Charter.

Who it's for and who it isn't

Book it if you're travelling with children and want the whale-watching trip to be their highlight of the day too. Choose the 3-hour trip: it includes drinks and a swim, and that makes up for the difference in price. More ideas like this in Tenerife with kids.

Look elsewhere if what matters to you is quiet wildlife watching. In Los Cristianos, Travelin' Lady does 90 minutes straight out with a swim, Mar de Ons' "Eco No-Chase" starts at €25 (who's who with Bonadea) and the Peter Pan offers a classic sailing-ship feel. All the harbours are in whale watching in Tenerife.
